Puppy Care Kit
Puppy Nicknames
All of ours litters are "themed" and all of our puppies are given nicknames. I know many breeders do not recommend that pups in a litter are given names, as then you will see them as individuals and become attached to them. This in turn makes it more difficult to let them go to their new homes. Although I have been warned against this, I don't think it would matter if I called them puppy number one and puppy number two, I would get attached regardless. Due to the fact that my mom oversees their daily care, it is easier for us to identify them individually so that we can discuss progress and be clear on whom we are referring to. We do not require that you keep the pups' nickname once they are adopted, however, some of our new owners do choose to include the nickname into their chosen registered name.
A 2 year, written guarantee comes along with each puppy. This ensures you that if any type of genetic problem is diagnosed by a veterinarian within the first 2 years of life, I will provide you with a refund of half of your initial purchase price. I do not have litters often enough to replace your dog, nor would I want you to have to give your puppy back. My hope is that you will spend the money returned to you to help treat the problems which have surfaced in your friend.
Before leaving the kennel, each of my puppies has had one complete set of vaccines and a health exam performed by a veterinarian. Every puppy has been de-wormed four times, has been microchipped, and had one dose of heartworm prevention administered (if the season dictates that is necessary). When you pick up your puppy, you are sent home with a complete puppy care guide. This includes feeding instructions, crate training, house training, etc. I also include a weeks' worth of puppy food, in order to give you time to purchase your own. A blanket that smells like their litter mates, a toy, and some rawhide is included as well. I find this makes the transition to your home a little easier. Due to the fact that your new addition will grow so quickly, I also include a puppy leash and collar. This way when you pick out your own you will just need to purchase an adult size. Once you leave the kennel I encourage you to join our Facebook group, this is a closed group that only contains members who have a Berkden dog. This group is used as a means of support for questions that may arise, and an area where you can post pictures of your new family member for fellow golden lovers to enjoy. This means that if you have any questions or concerns, you have an entire group of people willing to help. I always encourage every new owner to "keep in touch" and I offer life-long support for you and your new pet.
